Religious Education

Religious Education is taught throughout every part of life at St Mary’s. Every child is taught as a unique individual created by God. God is at the centre of our school and our faith permeates every decision made, every assembly and every area of the curriculum.

The school recognises that parents are the first messengers and teachers of their children’s faith and the link between home, parish and school is a vital part of our school’s Religious Education programme.

The children follow the National Scheme recommended by the Diocese of Southwark called ‘Come and See’. This was updated in 2012 and offers a robust curriculum which allows us to be creative as we engage the children in their learning.

Religious life in the school includes daily prayer, assemblies, regular celebration of Mass and supporting pupils in preparation for the Sacraments, which is led by our feeder parishes.
